Leo began his piano studies at the age of 5 and entered the Xi’an Conservatory of Music affiliated middle school in 2012. After graduating high school in 2018, Xiaohe moved to Boston for his post-secondary studies at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where he studied with Ya-fei Chuang and Jonathan Bass, and collaborated with renowned musicians and ensembles.
During his time at the Boston Conservatory, Leo expanded his repertoire in classical, jazz, and pop piano, holding two solo recitals in Seully Hall in 2021 and 2022. He performed for esteemed teachers such as Steinway Artist Max Levinson, Paganini Competition winner Lynn Chang, and Grammy-winning violist Paul Laraia. He also studied with touring violinist Sharan Leventhal in chamber music and collaborated extensively with Berklee and Boston Conservatory students. Leo's career also branched into improvisation, composition, and transcription, allowing him to contribute in recording studios and diverse musical settings. He also performed with the Firebird Pop Orchestra at the Boston Museum of Science.
Leo is currently a freelance musician and piano teacher, performing at weddings, events, and concerts across a wide range of genres including classical, jazz, pop, and film scores. He actively accompanies for teachers, students, and musicians, while also exploring opportunities in orchestras and recording studios.
